★ RECEPTION & REGISTRATION AT QUILOMBO (4:00PM – 10:00PM)
Join your fellow workers as they arrive in Kansas City for substantial snacks, music, discussion, and more. Please do not bring dogs or alcohol to the space.

DAY 1 – SATURDAY AUGUST 1ST

★ BREAKFAST & REGISTRATION (9:00AM – 10:00AM)
Breakfast will be provided, so come early and enjoy some food with your fellow workers!

★ INTRODUCTION (10:00AM – 11:15AM)
Get familiar with the schedule, space, and other attendees and enjoy a presentation on the basics of workplace organizing (AEIOU) as well as from organizers of the IWW’s Freshii and UPS campaigns.

★ BREAK (11:15AM – 11:30AM)

★ BUILDING & RETAINING MEMBERSHIP (11:30AM – 12:45PM)
In this workshop we will practice active listening skills and refine the story we tell when trying to sign-up new members.

★ LUNCH (12:45PM – 1:45PM)
A home-cooked vegan lunch will be provided!

★ MASS PICKETING (1:45PM – 3:00PM)
The Picket Training will focus on the tactical as well as the mechanical aspects of picketing. It will cover the various types of picketing and will include live action role-plays.

★ BREAK (3:00PM – 3:30PM)

★ CORPORATE RESEARCH (3:30PM – 4:45PM)
We will focus on outlining the three main areas of strategic corporate research: Operational, Command & Control, and Outside Stakeholders, and give participants basic information and tools to conduct their own research. This workshop will be useful for those who want to learn how to track down information on a company’s business model, growth strategy and/or key profit areas as well as for those interested in the various components of a strong, comprehensive research-backed organizing campaign. We will review the initial material quickly, provide links to resources for participants to review on their own and save time for a discussion more relevant to the local context.

★ BREAK (4:45 – 5:15)

★ IWOC – INCARCERATED WORKERS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE (5:15PM – 6:30PM) Learn about what the IWOC does and how it is growing. Also, write an actual letter to an IWW member in prison.

★ DINNER & SOCIAL AT QUILOMBO (6:30PM – 8:30PM)
Dinner will be provided. Be sure to stick around for music, discussion, and more. Please do not bring dogs or alcohol to the space.

★ GENDER, SEXUALITY, AND PATRIARCHY: A GROUP DISCUSSION ON OVERCOMING OBSTACLES IN ORGANIZING (8:30PM – 10:00PM)

DAY 2 – SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND

★ RUSTY’S RULES OF ORDER (10:00AM – 11:15PM)
Are you sick of disorganized, unproductive, and inconsistent meetings? Do you want to learn how to hold meetings which are shorter, democratic, and more productive? This workshop will provide an introduction to the importance of good meeting procedure, how to facilitate a meeting, how to take meeting minutes, how to write a good proposal, and the building blocks of Rusty’s Rules of Order.

★ BREAK (11:15AM – 11:30AM)

★ CAMPAIGN STRATEGY (11:30AM – 12:45PM)
This workshop will examine the elements of a successful workplace organizing campaign designed both to win victories in the workplace and to build the power of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW).

★ LUNCH (12:45PM – 1:45PM)
A home-cooked vegan lunch will be provided!

★ REGIONAL GOAL SETTING (1:45PM – 3:00PM)
A workshop on building better, stronger networks among branches in the Midwest.

★ BREAK (3:00PM – 3:30PM)

★ HOW TO MAKE YOUR CAMPAIGN LOOK GOOD: DESIGN, PRESS & SOCIAL MEDIA (3:30PM – 4:45PM)
This workshop will cover the basics of graphic design, designing for an organizing campaign, writing outreach materials, preparing press releases, and establishing and maintaining an online presence.

★ BREAK (4:45PM – 5:00PM)

★ CONCLUSION (5:00PM – 6:00PM)
Finish the curriculum with a moderated group discussion on the lessons learned, development of ideas, and strategic considerations addressed throughout the weekend as well as a Q & A with organizers from the IWW’s Freshii and UPS campaigns.

★ DINNER & SOCIAL AT QUILOMBO (6:30PM – 8:30PM)
Dinner will be provided. Be sure to stick around for music, discussion, and more. Please do not bring dogs or alcohol to the space.

★ ORGANIZING THE OTHER REDS: A GROUP DISCUSSION ON CONSERVATISM, NATIONALISM, AND BUILDING A MASS WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT (8:30PM – 10:00PM)
